Welcome to the Nanoengineering Research Group (NRG), a research group of the Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation (TEMA) at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Aveiro.

Nanotechnology Research at NRG currently includes the fields of:

– Nano-Mechanics

  • Mechanical Characterization of Materials
  • Micro/Nano-Electro-Mechanical Systems

– Nano-Materials

  • Material characterization
  • Carbon Nanostructures, 2D Materials and Composites
  • Materials for Energy Application
  • Biomaterials
  • Environmental Asset

NRG benefits from an interdisciplinary team, with ambitious goals, offering advanced technology- and product-oriented research.

Our aim is to apply cutting edge understanding in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology to engineering, developing and transforming the associated technologies, through research and innovation, human capital development, and collaborative work, for the discovery of new knowledge and the creation of mutual value and prosperity.

Technology transfer is of high importance and Is promoted by the involvement of NRG faculty members in the Mechanical Engineering and Nanoscience & Nanotechnology doctoral programs. Students planning to pursue their PhD in these areas are welcome to contact us.

International research collaborations are actively encouraged among our members. The group offers access to a wide and cross-disciplinary knowledge base, extensive facilities and resources. Please contact us if you would like to participate in this frame.
